History: Wiki Link though there is no history section so here goes; I hope a general overview is enough, but if not, let me know!
Two high school students, En Yufuin and Atsushi Kinugawa, were in the middle of a visit to the local public bath, a place they would commonly frequent. They were having a deep conversation about chikuwabu and its place in the world when suddenly, a hole opened up in empty space beside them, dropping out of it a pink creature that bore a striking resemblance to a wombat. Furthermore, this creature then began speaking to them at once, and after a brief exchange, decided upon its own that the two were perfect candidates to protect the planet. While they tried to politely refuse, the creature was rather insistent, and their clashing caused enough of a ruckus to alert one of the caretakers of the bath: a fellow student, Yumoto Hakone, who happened to have an extreme adoration for anything cute and fuzzy. In trying with all his might to cuddle the wombat-like creature, he unknowingly created the perfect distraction for the two to get away.
But their luck wouldn't last forever; when they arrived at their classroom the next day, their homeroom teacher entered the room with a familiar pink creature tucked under his arm. After class, he tried to persuade the two once more to fight to protect love on Earth, but once again Yumoto appeared to successfully divert his attention away. With him preoccupied, they felt safe to continue on to their club room to meet with the other two members of the "Earth Defense Club," Io Naruko and Ryuu Zaou. Or well, they actually just hang out in the room and latch onto the name that's been engraved on a plate hanging on the door since before they ever started borrowing the room. None of them know its origin, and they don't do any real club activities, but it looked like the student council was about to start cracking down on useless clubs, so they were now faced with the dilemma of finding anything constructive to write down on the form that was left for them. Furthermore, clubs required five members and an adviser. They were down one member and a faculty member, both of which would be difficult to procure for basically a nonsensical club.
As they were pondering these concerns, suddenly the door opened and spilled out some unexpected company. First was their homeroom teacher, Mr. Tawarayama, and right after was Yumoto who had finally successfully gotten ahold of the wombat-like creature (who would simply be referred to as Wombat by absolutely everyone for convenience sake). Deciding once again on his own that he was through with asking, Wombat then tasked all five students present with protecting the Earth as the Battle Lovers. He bestowed upon them magical bracelets, known lovingly as the loveracelets, which would send out "love alerts" to let them know when the loveless were thinking loveless thoughts and taking loveless actions. It was their duty to use "Love Making" to transform into battling heroes that would oppose these threats. Apparently, these heroes were always known to be groups of five. Also, due to an accident that happened during Wombat's initial fleeing from Yumoto the previous day, Mr. Tawarayama happened to be... well, dead. Technically. Mostly. Using extraterrestrial abilities of some kind to preserve his life, Wombat has to stay in physical contact with him to do so, though the teacher's movements were extremely rigid and Wombat had to speak for him as well. It was convoluted and convenient as heck, but the group now had five members, an adviser, and a reason to carry out the original name of the Earth Defense Club.
Coincidentally, just as they received their new roles, they also received a love alert which led them to a chikuwabu monster terrorizing the students of the school. After testing out their new abilities with randomly decided attack names, they were able to purify the heart of the monster, returning it to its original form of a student of the school. Unbeknownst to them, he had been transformed by a group seeking to conquer the world: Caerula Adamas. Each week, there would be a new monster to fight until the two groups would finally face one another head to head.
Personality:
Women are life! This is Ryuu's catchphrase, and spending even five minutes with him is enough to see that that's hardly an exaggeration. Being an extreme romantic, he's a man who truly believes that men and women are meant to enjoy each other's company as often as possible. There's no type that he really prefers over another, and there's no type that he dislikes. Each and every girl is unique, and he wants to be able to appreciate each one for their talents. He's insanely popular with girls (or at least he claims to be), constantly on his smartphone chatting with them and setting up dates. Apparently, he's often double or triple-booked. Because of this, however, there's rumors about him that he's a playboy who toys with the hearts of women. But for what it's worth, his intentions are pure. He's upfront about his nature, and he would never lie to a girl to put himself in a favorable position. In contrast, because he has so much respect for women, it's easy for him to find something to compliment them on. It may still be seen as flattery, but in his eyes, it's only pointing out what he sees as truth. He does have a tendency to fall into cliches; he's a huge fan of the romance genre, after all, so perhaps it's difficult not to imitate what he admires. Because of this, though, he believes things like women are weak and need to be protected, and it's a man's job to do that. In a sense, his romantic ideals are a little old-fashioned. He hates it when girls cry, but he'll still do what he can to make them smile again.
Ryuu's pretty positive thinking in general, and he seems to have an incredibly high opinion of himself. While he doesn't take kindly to being called narcissistic, he's also not averse to praising himself. Again, this self-image is derived simply from what is a fact to him. He's comfortable with who he is and what he likes, and he'll defend both with confidence should they be questioned. There are times where he can get annoyed with insults thrown his way, and he can get competitive if he feels that he's being challenged. After making a harmless throwaway comment about how the girls would be so upset if he didn't win the monthly Pretty Boy Contest at his school, a fellow classmate (and somewhat rival?) pointed out that he's yet to take first place at all. So, Ryuu made it the entire club's mission to make sure that he at least placed higher than him. Furthermore, after the team first received their powers, he was quick to jump into action on the grounds that he wanted to look cool, too. In other words, he's very secure with himself, but he is also extensively concerned about keeping up his image. Thanks to this, he's rather easy to provoke, and he often ends up in troubling situations during battles because he acts without thinking, caring only for the end result.
It's hard to fault him despite his flamboyant personality that can be overbearing at times as it's clearly so genuine. He can be what some people call stupidly straightforward. This part of his nature is what allows him to throw out embarrassing lines without a hint of shame. It also goes along with his acting before thinking as he's prone to voicing his thoughts aloud without considering the effect of his words during a delicate situation. While his intentions are usually harmless, he can be careless in how he comes across since he doesn't alter his friendly tone no matter who he's talking to, or if the situation might deem it unsuitable.
At times, he can behave rather childishly, holding grudges against his so-called rival and tuning out information that he doesn't want to hear. He's able to put a positive spin on most negative feedback that he gets, even if it's a joking sort of comment. When it comes down to it, perhaps he is a master of deflection. Though he doesn't like the idea of being considered childish, he's fine with not being completely mature yet, too. He describes himself as "cute," and he's determined to experience his youthfulness to its full potential. Because of this, he's relatively agreeable towards just about anything, and if he's having any doubts, he's pretty easy to convince. A simple mention that a venture could increase his popularity is likely all that's needed, if he doesn't already come up with the suggestion himself.
Ryuu is rather easygoing despite the supposed busy schedule he keeps. Though their club activities involve doing absolutely nothing of importance unless there's a love alert, he's content to hang out just to spend time with his friends. However, much like his element is fire, he can also get rather passionate. Drawing motivation from seemingly nothing, he can find any reason to justify his suddenly intense feelings. Of course, the two subjects with which he's always passionate are love and friendship. When his best friend, Io, accepted an offer to join the student council and thereby decided to quit the Earth Defense Club, Ryuu reprimanded him for it immediately, taking it as a personal betrayal. The other members didn't seem nearly as distressed over the idea as he did, or perhaps it's simply that he was so quick to react that none of them even had the chance to do the same. At any rate, if there's anything as important to Ryuu as girls, it's his friends. He sees them as incomparable important factors in his life, and he'll do anything to help them out when they're in trouble.
Abilities: Normally, he doesn't possess any (unless you count his talent in picking up girls). But he gains the ability to transform into Battle Lover Vesta, which in turn grants him the power of fire. As for the actual capabilities of his attack strength, however, they're a little random. Basically, all he has to do is yell out something (maybe not even) and point with his battle wand to be able to produce fire with it. While transformed, his physical capabilities are increased, allowing him greater stamina, the ability to jump higher and dodge faster; things like that.

Exposition/Introspection:
When you want to refresh your mind, you should refresh your body. Thinking something along those lines, Ryuu heads for the bathroom to wash his face with some cold water. After splashing on just enough feel the effects, he turns the faucet off once more and stares at his reflection in the mirror. Yikes, he really can't go walking around in a co-ed school with that kind of sullen expression. What kind of first impression is that? Dripping still with the remnants of the water, he takes his hands gently to his face to wipe away as much as he can, and then he flashes himself a smile for practice.
Somehow, it's lacking its usual charm. If he can't fall for himself, how is anyone else going to? He's not one to normally be so nervous in social situations, but then again, this situation involves a bit more than friendly socializing, doesn't it? And really, it's not so much that he is nervous... Panicked, maybe? No, that's worse, isn't it. It would be easier if his friends were here with him, but that isn't the case. It's kind of like having to rebuild an empire here. He didn't particularly have a girl who was beyond special to him back home, so meeting new ones wouldn't be the end of the world, for now. But his friends are different; they're absolutely irreplaceable. Furthermore, as pulling down on his left sleeve once again reveals to him, his loveracelet is missing. What that means exactly... he doesn't quite know yet. Still, instinct tells him it's something Not Good.
He shakes his head to help reset his thoughts and to discard any excess water on his face, and then he claps his hands to his cheeks a couple of times to further snap himself out of it. "All right!" he declares triumphantly, his hands tightening into fists as if to signal that he's ready to take on the world. He twirls himself around in a 360 spin, landing in front of the mirror again as he smiles once more, brighter and more energetic than last time and with the bonus addition of a peace sign. Yes, that's it! Confidence restored, he makes his exit, back to the bustling hallway full of unfamiliar faces. Now then, it's time to add some new contacts to his phone list. Oh, and probably figure out what this place is, too, in the meantime.
