[app] MegaTen OC // Galil
Character Name; Galil
Canon; Megaten Online: Imagine
Age; 34
CV; Konishi Katsuyuki
Power; He is a gunner!! He was trained well in the military, but he's all rusty now
Personality; Galil comes across as a very easygoing guy. He shows his age whether he intends to or not, but he tries to do so in a good way, openly offering advice to anyone who asks (or doesn't ask) for it. In this way, he can sometimes come off as a know-it-all, but mostly he wants to help guide others in a way that they don't face the same regrets he's come to known. He can't talk about his past easily, and he jokingly brushes attempts at serious conversation aside. It seems like he's trying to play up this big mystery concerning himself, but really it's a natural instinct to dodge personal issues. He keeps them buried deep within himself so that they can't actively hold him down. He had already spent a long time in such a state, after all; right now, he's only trying to move forward.
He cares a lot about others. Ever since his days in the army, he's found that he just can't help getting involved. Perhaps it's a fatherly instinct that he never really got the chance to act upon. Nonetheless, he's a good listener to those willing to speak with him, and he's rather trustworthy... Well, not that he comes across that way with his infinite secrets. Usually, he's very calm in any given situation. He analyzes things to the best of his ability and tries to read ahead to decide the best course of action, but there are times when he can get heated up as well, which causes him to act without thinking. Because he tends to fall into a position of leadership, whether he intends to or not, these instances can be dangerous for those who might happen to get involved at the time.
History; She was a childhood friend, and her name was Emilyn. She and Galil had always been close, though perhaps that was to be expected. They were close in age and their families shared a residence. They were both the only child to their respective parents, but they were practically brother and sister to one another. They were inseparable and depended on one another. Galil in particular was very protective of her, to the point where it could at times be an annoyance. For example, he didn't like it when the other children would try to steal her away from him. He came up with a written exam that they would have to pass in order to spend time with Emilyn, but she scolded him for it and that was the end of that. It was unnecessary to begin with, because even though he could be overbearing like that at times, he was still the one she preferred to spend her time with, anyway. No matter how much time passed, this one simple fact never changed.
As they got older, the bonds they shared matured. It was obvious to everyone around them since they were children that they would end up together. When their relationship changed toward this new direction, it wasn't awkward in the slightest. They were so comfortable with one another that it hardly even needed words. Time continued to pass through such peaceful days until finally, he proposed to her, and they were married. They'd only just begun to settle into a place of their own and raise a family when distressing news had started to circulate: that demons were once again becoming prevalent and had been attacking humans. The rumors had just barely spread before a man appeared at their doorstep with a letter in hand requesting Galil's aid in the army against these terrifying creatures. No, perhaps "requesting" wasn't the right word, as he was hardly offered a choice. He was being drafted, but even if that weren't the case, Galil wouldn't have found it to be a choice regardless. If it meant protecting his home and the ones within it whom he cared for, of course he was going to go fight this threat.
Emilyn was worried, of course, but she faced him with a smile as she always did and gave her full support, promising to wait for his return. Galil entrusted her with the household and their child who was a mere few weeks old at this point. The uproar about the community quieted as the many men turned soldiers left, and years passed without their return.
During his time away, Galil became a trained soldier, raising in his ranks as his performance was high enough to impress his superiors. He became rather handy with guns of various types, and he has a real air of leadership about him. But most importantly, his dedication to his fellow squad members was nothing short of admirable. He was always willing to put himself at risk to save another's life, and he made absolutely sure that no man was left behind. He had been called 'reckless' a good number of times by his friends, but more than that, he seemed to have luck on his side. Even he felt pretty confident in his own abilities, so he never worried about weighing the negative outcomes of a situation. He was pretty clever, too, so he felt that if there wasn't a way, he would make one.
But he would learn that there are things that cannot be controlled, mistakes that can't be undone, and that no string of luck could possibly last forever. It happened after another successful battle against a pack of demons. His squad had saved a small village from certain death. The villagers were incredibly grateful, of course, and thanked the soldiers for saving them from the fate of Home II.
Home II... His home. It sounded like such an off-handed remark that it couldn't have possibly been true, but he pressed for more information. The villagers didn't have much else to say, but they explained that there were rumors recently of a demon attack there which left no survivors. Galil, who had always appeared before his men as cool and composed, shifted immediately into a despair which couldn't be shaken. He ran off at once, leaving it all behind without a second thought. He was fighting to protect his loved ones from such a tragedy, so why wasn't he there to prevent it?? It was his fault; he assumed that Home II was impenetrable to demons, that they would be safest there... He never should have left. Still, he had to see it with his own eyes to confirm their words, and upon reaching his destination... Well, it was just as they had said.
