[app] MegaTen OC // Clovre
Character Name; Clovre
Canon; Megaten Online: Imagine
Age; 19
CV; Sugiyama Noriaki
Power; Rush Melee fighter! He charges in and takes the enemies out! (hopefully before they take him out...)
Personality; Clovre is like the personification of seriousness. He doesn't seem to have a sense of humor in the slightest, and it's extremely rare to see him smile. He tends to speak harshly, and he pushes his way of thinking onto others. As Messier described, in this way, he tends to be very one-note. It's hardly worth attempting an argument with him, because he's certain not to budge. He's very stubborn like that, but he isn't without his reasons, though he won't casually divulge those to just anyone. He doesn't seem to trust others, but he certainly doesn't trust the demons, either. And you can trust in that fact very easily because he is indeed vocal about it. The demons are his enemy, but he isn't above using them as temporary tools if they can help him with his goal of ultimately eliminating all of them once and for all.
He can be extremely difficult to converse with; he doesn't really react to much, and he generally seems like he could care less for another's company. It's probably evident enough that he keeps people at arm's length, and his heart is completely closed off to the world. It's been a long time since he's allowed himself to experience any sort of emotion, so it isn't something that's easily regained, despite how natural it might be to anyone else. He has no interest in making friends. He isn't opposed to working with others, but he is always sure to express that it is a business relationship which ends when the job is completed. He doesn't like those who try to pry into his life, but despite the annoyance, the attempts don't seem to affect him at all. If there's a proper word to describe everything about him, it's probably "numb." As he is now, he almost seems more machine than human.
But despite that, the fact remains that he is human. It isn't that he can't be affected by other persons or events; it's that he rejects any personal involvement without realizing that these variables affect him regardless. Basically, he doesn't think about much other than his specified tasks, but it doesn't mean that outside interactions aren't leaving their mark. After all, we don't really choose what we come across in life, and it's that sort of "unknown" factor that Clovre tries to shut out. But sooner or later, it's going to catch up with him, and he's going to have to realize that he is an existence in this world, one like any other that is shaped by experiences which cause growth, whether it prompts a wanted change or not.
History; It happened ten years ago. Clovre was out playing with his older brother, like always, when they happened upon a strange creature. It looked like a dog, but unlike any they'd ever seen before. It had green fur and wing-like ears. It was injured, and as such, it was hard to take it as a threat. It whimpered in pain, and its appearance alone was enough to draw sympathy. Clovre barely had time to consider what he could do to help when he heard a voice asking for his assistance. Realizing that the voice came from the creature, he was shocked and— admittedly, a bit scared, but it was only because it was so out of the ordinary. The important thing was that it needed help, and he explained this to his brother, who was wary of the dog-like being. He was against providing any treatment because there was just something about it that he couldn't trust. There had been rumors of demons around after all, and this creature was certainly something else. But the creature promised a reward for helping, and... that was enough to convince the elder brother.
Though their parents initially showed concern as well, the creature proved to be gentle and even seemed to bring the family a little closer together. Clovre cared for it deeply, giving it a name and agreed to keep him as a pet, if the creature didn't mind, of course. He was so proud of him and wanted to show off the animal that could talk to his friends! But, of course, that would come after he was fully healed. Days went by, and little by little, the creature got a little bit stronger. He was a bit odd-looking, but he was a fine family pet. And under their gracious care, it wasn't long at all before he was completely recovered.
That day, to celebrate, Clovre wanted to take their pet out to play. However, it was acting strange. Though he was already aware it could understand human speech, it didn't seem to be listening to him. And then suddenly, for the first time since their meeting, it let out a loud, sharp bark. Thinking it may have fallen ill, Clovre tried his best to calm the beast, but it barked again, and then a third time. After asking it countless times what was the matter, the creature finally calmed itself and told Clovre that there was danger nearby, but not to worry because it chased it away. Both relieved to hear that danger was averted and proud of his pet for protecting the home, Clovre thanked the creature, and they went out to the fields. Many hours passed. He had so much fun with the dog that he'd lost track of time, and it was nightfall by the time he'd returned home.
But what he found there left him completely speechless. There were claw marks on the door and at the windows, which had also been shattered due to an apparent forced entry. The house was dark and silent, but it was hardly peaceful. He didn't have to step inside to know something terrible had happened. Though afraid, he ran inside, shouting for his family to respond, but they wouldn't; they couldn't. It was too dark to ascertain what happened, so he had no choice but to turn on the lights, and what greeted him then was the face of the creature he saved, and many others that looked just like it. There was blood all over the place, and the air was so thick he could hardly stand to breathe anymore. He couldn't understand what was happening— or rather, why it was happening, even as the creature engaged him with a response: "I promised a reward, didn't I? I didn't say for whom."
He couldn't remember any further than that moment. When he came to, all he could recall were those last words and the faded memories of their time together, of his family and how he still couldn't register that they weren't with him anymore. He didn't know why he survived, why he alone should have been spared, but if it was to be a punishment, it served well enough. He brought this upon them. His actions alone delivered this fate. There wasn't any doubt in his mind; that was a demon... one that would regret sparing this life because he was determined to have his revenge.
