Name: Taichi Yaegashi
Age: 15
Game Handle: Lariat
Canon: Kokoro Connect

Appearance: Here!

Personality: Taichi is generally reserved. He appears calm and composed, and he usually speaks when spoken to, not being one to actively seek out casual conversation. The exception to this is when the topic changes to professional wrestling, something he admires a lot and can speak quite passionately about! But as a result of his demeanor, he can seem detached from his surroundings, especially if he happens to be lost in thought. However, he is very considerate of others and tries his best to be tactful in his interactions. He normally thinks before he acts— or even before he speaks when faced with a difficult question, and he considers all alternatives before selecting the best possible course of action. Because of this, people seem able to rely on him for leadership and/or advice, and he is seen as someone who is very dependable. He's honest to a fault, even when that honesty can land him in an unfavorable or embarrassing position. He strives to be optimistic, and he does generally believe that things will work out for the better. Because of that, his reassurance can be a comfort to others, but it can also be deterring as it's really just blind faith. It's easy to trust in his optimism because it comes so naturally to him, which can help ease one's doubts, but at the same time, he doesn't have anything concrete to back it up with.

However, there are certain times when all of his well-rationalized thinking gets thrown out the window. Taichi has a sort of complex about helping people in need. If there is something that can be done about it, he won't hesitate to do it. If there's nothing that can be done, well... That won't stop him either. Putting the safety and wellbeing of absolutely everyone else before his own, he will dive right into any dangerous situation without a second thought. There's nothing he hates more than doing nothing when someone requires help, and he would much rather endure the pain himself than let someone else suffer. When he's in this mindset, he is unwilling to listen to reason or compromise, and he becomes defensive if his choices are questioned. He can even be judgmental of those who stand in his way. It's not exactly that he's dying to be a hero, but especially if no one else is going to rise to the plate, he takes pride in his self-sacrificing principles.

AU History: Taichi was a regular high school student who attended a club after classes each day. He requested to be put in a professonial wrestling club, but there weren't enough members to make that a reality, so instead he was lumped into a "leftovers" sort of club known as the Student Cultural Society (or StuCS for short). There, he and the other members would make a newsletter for the school about various events, policies, and the general lives of the student body. The five members became close friends, although there was still an invisible wall separating them all from really knowing one another.

At any rate, it was their job to sort of keep an eye on the news of the school, and while it wasn't school-related, there probably wasn't a student around who hadn't heard all the talk of Sword Art Online. After the discussion had reached their club, they started to hypothetically theorize the possibilities of playing an online game together, even though the majority of the members had never played one before. Deciding that creating a guild for their club would count sufficiently as a school-related activity, they all (though some reluctantly) agreed to purchase and play the game at launch, and then they would write an article abou their experiences. Who could have known that their choice would have made the biggest headline ever? If only they could survive the game to write about it.
