World Addition: I'm not sure if an artifact is something acceptable? But in the second season, there are numerous amounts of replica Orpheus Bracelets around (and announced at the end that they became scattered around the world as well). These bracelets, like Kaito's, enhance thinking power tremendously, but they also cause mental stress on the person wearing them, generally warping their personalities and twisting their emotions. As they are replicas, they break once someone can return them to their senses, since the wearer is generally unable to handle the pressure put on by the bracelet. I think it'd be neat if there could be some hidden around, but if that's too much or just a no-go in general, of course that's fine! In which case my back up is:

CRAPPY SCHOOL CAFETERIA FOOD, he can't live without it (or puzzles, but anyway! If this isn't good either, let

me know and I'll continue to think of something!)

Why is your character here: Kaito's desire to free all puzzles is what drew him to this place. He absolutely can't let a puzzle go unsolved, and he could feel that something of that sort would be waiting here for him.

Character history: Daimon Kaito is a puzzle-loving highschooler who is exceptionally gifted at solving them. One day, he happens upon a supposedly unsolvable puzzle, where he finds himself "chosen" by a mysterious artifact known as the Orpheus Bracelet. As it attaches itself to his arm, he finds that his cognitive processes accelerate greatly, enhancing his puzzle-solving abilities even further. Because of this, he is accepted as a Solver and given the official title of Einstein which allows him to challenge deadly puzzles intended to kill those unable to solve them. It also makes him a candidate for "Phi Brain," a Solver powerful enough that they are supposedly able to unlock the secret behind the ultimate puzzle, the Puzzle of God. Kaito, continuing to strive towards a goal he once proclaimed stating that he would solve any puzzle put before him, takes it upon himself to "free" these puzzles so that they no longer pose a threat to anyone anymore.

Character personality: Kaito is certainly one to go at his own pace. He doesn't care much for conventional norms; he does what he wants to do, even at the risk of disrespecting authority. However, he's not malicious with his intentions by any means. He's just enjoying life as it comes, and if he's bored, he simply has to find something to entertain himself with. He certainly gives off a carefree aura, but he does have his worries that weigh him down from time to time. His childhood wasn't exactly easy, and because of this, he sort of sealed himself off from others so as not to get hurt. For a while, this caused him to appear standoffish in a way, but mostly in the sense that he was above others and therefore difficult to reach. This was heightened by the fact that he possesses a genius-level intellect which few can match. There were even rumors about the school that only those who could match it were worthy of his acquaintance. And considering he spends all of his free time obsessing over puzzles, most people assume that it's all he cares about. And perhaps for that moment in time, their assumptions weren't incorrect. Kaito's one-track mind was always preoccupied with those puzzles, so he didn't even realize himself how lonely he actually felt. It wasn't until he gained true friends that he realized their importance in his life, and that puzzles-- and everything else-- are more fun when shared with those you care about.

As he is now, Kaito is quite dependable. He sets difficult goals for himself because he likes a good challenge, but what's most impressive is his ability to see them through. There are times he faces setbacks and even doubts himself and his abilities, but for the most part he's confident in himself and his friends. Still, more than anything, he has the determination to keep fighting for what he believes is right. It is because of this part of his nature that his friends came to follow him, after all. Even if he can't see it himself, his radiance when he sets his mind to a task and accomplishes it is astounding. His optimism is to be admired, but it's his faith in his convictions that even manage to convince others that he has the power to make a difference. On top of that, he shows compassion for both friends and enemies alike, and he truly wishes to achieve a mutual understanding so that everyone can have the best possible future.

He approaches serious matters seriously as one should, but in general, he does tend to take things easy. He's lighthearted and enjoys harmless pranks from time to time, and he absolutely loves a good competition. As his own pride is very important to him, he won't hesitate to prove his skills when put into question, and he can even be cocky as he talks himself up. Though generally he does have the skills to back up his words, in the event of a loss, he can be a pretty sore loser. He isn't one to let go of a slight, especially if his opponent uses unfair tactics, and he isn't above demanding rematches until the end of time. He can be sarcastic and jokingly aloof with his friends as he's generally embarrassed to admit how much they mean to him in everyday scenarios, but he's usually an easy read, regardless. Though he's capable of very complex thought processes, at his core he's so simple that one doesn't need to be a genius to see his good-natured intentions.

Skill loss or memory loss? Skill loss
Effect of losing skills: Kaito has an exceptionally gifted mind and a natural talent for puzzle-solving. He is able to piece together patterns and decipher clues with ease, so upon arrival, he would find it very hard to reason. His thought process is generally governed by logic, but none of that logic would seem to add up as it normally would. Even the most simple of puzzles would stump him, and there would be a general mental block keeping him from understanding solutions to everyday problems.

Voice Sample: SURVEY

Introduce yourself: I'm Daimon Kaito, first year at Root Academy.

Favorite color? Red, I guess? Blue is pretty nice, too.

What do you pride yourself on? Puzzle-solving! There's no puzzle I can't solve!

What parts of yourself do you consider most essential? That'd be my brain, right? It's the same for everyone. It's what allows us to make the choices that define who we are.

What parts of yourself would you get rid of if you could? It's true that there are parts of myself that I'd like to get rid of, and there are memories I'd like to erase. But those are also an important part of who I am today, so... Even if it's hard at times, I wouldn't want to lose what I have now.

What’s most important to you in the world? Puzzles! Just kidding. Well, puzzles are an important part of my life, and that's always going to be true. But solving by myself gets tiresome after a while, so what's really important are the people around me who have kept me going all this time.

How far would you go to get what you want? I won't give up or back down, if that's what you're asking.

Do you believe in survival of the fittest as applied in a social context? Not really. Everyone has things they're good at and things they're not. That kind of variety is a good thing. I think that we're able to get the farthest when we combine our strengths.

What role do you feel most comfortable fufilling in a team situation? I could fill whatever role was needed of me, I think. Of course, there are times when I'd prefer to handle something myself, but even I know that sometimes teamwork is the answer.

Do you believe you made good choices? Not every choice has been the right one. As I said, there are memories I wish I hadn't created. And there will probably be more setbacks along the way. I might do some other things I'll one day regret. But so long as I keep moving forward and learning from those mistakes, I think... I think things will turn out all right.
