CHARACTER
Name: Spike
Age: Unknown, though he is still a baby dragon
Canon: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Canon Point: Post S2E10: Secret of My Excess
History: Here!

Personality: Spike is still a baby dragon, so he can be immature in a lot of ways. He'll make jokes even at the expense of his friends, but only when the situation calls for it. He's still sensitive to their feelings, and if he were to take it too far, he would certainly be apologetic about it. Overall, he cares for them a lot, and he's more than willing to listen to their problems. Because his job is to keep correspondence between Princess Celestia and the other ponies, it might have given him a better insight to catching problems before they start. But that isn't to say that he's flawless, himself.

In fact, he will be the first to talk himself up. He tends to talk big, showering himself with praise whenever he can, and he generally comes off as brimming with so much confidence that he needs to tone it down. He likes being the center of attention, but all of this could easily be attributed to the fact that he's actually sort of insecure. He works hard (when he isn't slacking) since he does want to help Twilight, but a part of that is because he likes being needed.

Dragons are also prone to greed, and it was found out that Spike was no exception. On his birthday, he had gotten so excited over the prospects of getting gifts that he went so far as to demand them from others. However, at heart, he is equally generous. For as much as he likes attention and praise, sometimes he's happiest when he can bestow that gift upon someone else.

Abilities/Strengths:

♦ His special ability is magic fire-breathing that allows him to pass scrolls to and from Princess Celestia on the ponies' behalf.

♦ He has tough claws and scales, both of which aid him in digging for gemstones.

♦ Though he might prefer to slack, he does his chores thoroughly, often helping to clean and organize the house.

♦ He is pretty dependable and cares about his friends, even taking the initiative to help them out sometimes when they don't even realize they have a problem.

Weaknesses:

♦ About those scrolls... Sometimes if too many are transferred within a short amount of time, it can leave Spike feeling sick.

♦ Dragons have a natural temptation towards greed, something which Spike encountered and overcame! But that's still another part of him that he'll have to control.

♦ He can act a little conceited from time to time, but he is also somewhat insecure and prone to jealousy.

ARCANARUM
Story: The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Story Character: The Apprentice
Plans: Spike was an assistant to Twilight Sparkle, but he pretty much stuck to his chores and passing scrolls. As The Apprentice, he should be more curious to try his own hand at some magic spells.

Third Person:

Spike must have had a rough night because those tend to lead to strange dreams, and okay, this wasn't the strangest he'd ever had. But it was certainly set apart from his usual strange dreams in that it didn't quite feel like he was dreaming. In fact, by now he was rather certain that he was positively awake and that this wasn't a dream in the slightest... At least, if pinching his cheek was a credible source of information. He was on some sort of impressive-looking island, but it was no place he'd ever seen before in his life.

“Twilight, I don't think we're in Ponyville anymore...” he even suggested to his pony companion, who, on closer inspection, was nowhere to be seen. “Twilight?” he repeated again to be safe, but there was no reply. He scratched his head a bit in confusion, and it was then that he realized that he was wearing a hat. Looking down, it seemed there was a robe to accompany it.

“Heyyy! Lookin' good, Spike!” he praised himself as he spun from side to side. The robe did seem to complement his tail perfectly, and— well, let's face it. There was no one else around to say it, so someone had to, right? It was a bit of a loss not having the others around to show as well, but he'd worry about that later. Before anything else, he figured he should try to find everyone else. Venturing into the city, he started to look for the nearest Pony Express.
